Acoustic Rough Sketches is quite simply a must-have disc for lovers of fingerstyle guitar. This disc exceeded all my expectations, and you’ll want it in your collection. Cooper reveals wonderful technique and notable talent in his compositions. His style and taste come through clearly, in a manner that absolutely feeds one’s listening desires ... his style is his own, and it is a very pleasant one indeed. While fingerstyle players who truly stand out are rare to my ear, he most certainly does: St. Francis said, “Preach the Gospel always, and if necessary, use words;” Cooper is preaching fingerstyle gospel on this disc, and the messages and images come through loud and clear.
